Charles R. Washburn Obituary

Charles R. Washburn, 84 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center.

Charles was born on February 10, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the son of Roger and Anna Marie (Petro).  He graduated from Whitewater High school and attended San Fransico State University.  He served his country for over 25 years in the US Air Force, including as an active-duty Airman from 1960 – 1964.   As a man of unwavering faith, he entered the Religious Life for 2 years, later working in the Aerospace industry.  He married Marcia Jury on July 5, 2017, in Janesville, WI, and the couple enjoyed the relatively short time spent as husband and wife immensely.  Charles interests included a deep appreciation for God’s creation, especially animals.  He surfed the internet on his Ipad often and was very proud of his military service.  His Catholic faith was of utmost importance, and he lived his life well.

He is survived by: his wife Marcia Washburn of Whitewater; son Charles (Louise) Washburn, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, step-sons Jim Selsing and Bob (Dee) Selsing both of Fort Atkinson; 3 grandchildren Jennifer, Lauren, and Bobby; and his great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
