Bonnie Haag Obituary

Bonnie J. Haag, 97 of Helenville, met her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2024, while at her home.

Bonnie was born on July 17, 1926, in Stoughton, WI, the daughter of John and Johanna (Erickson) Quam.  She grew up in the area, graduated from Stoughton High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1948.  On May 22, 1948, Bonnie married Eugene Haag at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Stoughton.  The couple had 3 children and enjoyed over 60 years of married until his death in 2008.  Bonnie was a homemaker, taking impeccable care of her husband, children, and the farm.  Bonnie was generous with her time and talents.  She baked her family’s favorite treats often, especially her famous fudge – a gift she sent home with many guests.  Bonnie was a generous lady who loved her family and friends unconditionally.  Her children remember and appreciate her commitment to their well-being, a trait they try to employ.  Bonnie’s faith was deep, long-lasting, and something to be admired.  She was a known to excuse herself to a private room, known by her family as the “Christian Room”, where she would spend hours in prayer for her family and friends by name.  When asked how long she will pray for a person, Bonnie replied “until death.”  At the end of her life, Bonnie’s spirit was encouraged by Pastor Paul Sharrer, by whom she was well served.  Her family is thankful that after nearly a hundred years of life, she is now resting in Heaven.

She is survived by: Gary (Linda) Haag of New Berlin, Sandra (James) Armantrout of Jenison, MI, and Debra Haag of Helenville; 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Margaret, Karena, and Thomas; a great-grandson Gabriel.  Bonnie is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Pearl Webber, Janet Robertson, “Kelly” Quam, and Dorothy Schaal. Bonnie is also preceded by many other relatives and friends.

A Christian funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Sharrer presiding.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest at Zion Cemetery of Helenville following the funeral.
