Barbara A. (Sonnenberg) Jacob, 67, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Barb was born on March 22, 1958, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the daughter of Byron and Adeline (Sobrilsky) Sonnenberg.  She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976 and had a son, Steven, in 1977. She was the owner of Big Hunchie’sRoadhouse in Steven’s Point for 15 years and from that, became heavily involved in local politics in Steven’s Point.  Some of her political accomplishments included: running for mayor, advocating for causes less heard, and raising private funds – saving a city park from development near her bar. Barb loved being outdoors.  She attempted gardening, enjoyed boating with family on the Wisconsin River, and was involved with her son’sactivities, even coaching sports teams when necessary.  She was always admired for her strength and vitality.  She helped where and when she was needed, always putting others before herself.  She will be dearly missed. 

Barbara is survived by: her son Steven (Crystal) Sonnenberg of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren Emily Edwards-Sonnenberg, Abby Sonnenberg, Noah Sonnenberg, Ahlana (Brandon Watenpaugh) Miller, and Ember Miller; great-grandchildren Lincoln, Everah, and Everet; siblings Gary (Ramona) Sonnenberg of Apple Valley, MN, Jerry Sonnenberg of Friendship, WI, Jean Sonnenberg of Jefferson, Dean (Cathy) Sonnenberg of Cambridge, IL, Steve (Mary) Sonnenberg of Cambridge, WI, David (Wendi Aumann) Sonnenberg of Nekoosa, WI, and Micheal ( Cheryl) Sonnenberg of Watertown.  She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Tina Sonnenberg (1984), siblings Diane Holler and Daniel Sonnenberg, and a niece Sara Sonnenberg.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at Lake Ripley Lanes W9534 US-12 Cambridge WI. On May 17th,2025 at 1pm with military honors.
