Alfred John Foskett, 91 of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek following a long illness.
Al was born in Viroqua, WI on September 30, 1932, the son of Alfred and Jeanette (Fortney) Foskett. He moved to Jeferson at the age of 4 and attended St. John’s Ev. Lutheran School and Jefferson High School. He joined the US Army in 1950 and served most of the 4-year enlistment in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he worked for North American Aviation in California for several years before returning to Wisconsin in 1957. There he met the girl next door, Judy Kohn, and they were married on June 10, 1961. That same year he was appointed to the State Patrol Academy and upon completion of training, became a Wisconsin State Trooper, a position held until his retirement in 1987. He worked part time after retiring as a bailiff for the Jefferson County Sherrif’s Dept. before being appointed as the district 18 supervisor on the Jefferson County Board. He held that position for over 11 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading, and creating new flower beds for Judy to plant and tend. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events when he could. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and a life member of VFW Post 3589, serving on its “firing squad” for several years.
He is survived by: his wife Judy of Jefferson, daughter Janine of Aurora, CO, sons Alfred (Maria Rangle) of Appleton, Jerry of Burlington, and Jason (Sherry) of Jefferson; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clifford in infancy.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice Care.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Joshua Martin presiding. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. He will be buried at Union Cemetery following the service.
