Agnes V. Froemming, 106 of Jefferson, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Sunset Ridge in Jefferson. 


On November 6, 1918, in Watertown, WI, the Lord blessed Edward and Emilie (Bohlmann) Vehlow with the gift of a daughter, Agnes Vehlow. The Lord brought Agnes into His family when she was baptized on November 14,1918, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School and was confirmed into the Christian faith at St. John’s on March 20, 1932.


Agnes was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1936. She was employed at Salick Jewelry Company in Watertown. Agnes was joined in holy matrimony to Harvey J. Froemming on June 17, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI. She was blessed with 73 years of marriage to Harvey, and God blessed their marriage with three daughters, Mary Anne, Carol Jean, and Cheri Lee. Their family moved to Jefferson in 1956 where she and Harvey owned and operated the Jefferson Department Store until Harvey retired in 1979.


She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson from 1956 until her death. She was a member of St. John’s Eunice Society and the church librarian for many years beginning in 1978. She was the secretary of the Jefferson County (Lakeside) Lutheran High School Building Fund Campaign and was further employed as Librarian and paraprofessional at Lakeside Lutheran High School, retiring in 1989. She was a charter member and past president of the Lakeside Lutheran High School Ladies’ Guild and also a charter member of the WELS Church Librarians’ Organization. For 15 years, she acted as General Leader of the Bustling Badgers 4-H Club of Jefferson County, and a member of the Jefferson County Homemakers’ Club. Agnes enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, travel, and loved her German Avenue home in Jefferson.


Agnes was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 12, 2025, at the age of 106 years, four months, and six days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harvey, and four brothers, Herbert, Arthur, Martin, and Robert Vehlow.


She is survived by three daughters: Mary Anne (Gary) Kunz of Fort Atkinson, WI, Carol Jean (David) Hackmann of Greenfield, WI, and Cheri Lee (Curtis) Hanson of Sheboygan, WI. Her family welcomed a fourth daughter in her high school years, Kathy Voss (Lee), who became just like a part of the family. She is also survived by five grandsons: Darren (Rochelle), Andrew, and Pastor Brian (Tricia) Hackmann, Branton Kunz, and Eric Hanson, and two granddaughters: Kay D. Kapets (Mike) and Maura Lyn (Pastor Paul) Hinz. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren: Robert Vaccarella, Matthew Hackmann, Madelyn Hinz, Jayna, Elin, and Kelsey Kapets, Alaina, Karlee, Lucas, Samantha, Addison, and Amelia Hackmann. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.


Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson, WI, at 11:30am with visitation from 9:00am until the time of service on March 28, 2025. Pastor Kesting will officiate. A lunch will be served after the service in the church fellowship hall. Committal will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown, WI at 9:00m on March 29, 2025.
