Kathleen K. Verg, 71 of Jefferson, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 23, 2018 at her home.
Kathleen was born on September 20, 1947 in the state of Missouri, the daughter of Stuart and Jean (Buelow) Gross. In 1965, she graduated from Jefferson High School and attended cosmetology school in Madison. She married David Verg and the couple had a daughter, Brenda. Kathy was a business woman all the way! She owned a pet store in Johnson Creek, a hair salon in Jefferson, and Vergie’s Place for many years. She was also a Caretaker at St. Coletta’s and was loved by the residents there. Most recently, Kathy was a greeter at Wal-Mart and her social attitude, quick wit, and love of people made it the perfect job. She especially enjoyed seeing the people she cared for of St. Coletta’s when they came in the store. Her interests were diverse: She drove a ‘57 Chevy stock car at Jefferson Speedway, was an animal lover, couldn’t get enough “shoot’em up” movies, and liked to be in charge. Kathy was a sassy, outspoken lady who often liked to get into a little trouble. She placed people in two categories – loved them like family or… not. She was a good woman and a defender of people. Jefferson was her home and she loved being here. Kathy treasured the people in town and was known by many. Her family remembers how much they valued her ability to not cast judgment and willingness to give good advice. Her grandkids were of utmost importance and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by: her daughter Brenda (Damon) Randall of Jefferson; grandchildren Lucinda and Logan Randall; and her brother Bill Gross of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
