James W. “Jimmy” Johns, 82 of Jefferson, died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at his home.
Jimmy was born on July 18, 1936 in Kittanning, PA, the son of Sharron and Edith (Byers) Johns. Jimmy moved to Jefferson, WI as an adult and flourished there. He was a member of the St. Coletta community and worked many jobs over the years. Eating was one of Jimmy’s favorite activities and he was especially grateful for a home-cooked meal. Many people visited him regularly and he always enjoyed spending time with his caseworkers. In his youth, Jimmy loved to ride bicycles with his nephew Jeff. He is described as a happy guy and was very thoughtful of others. Although Jimmy had cognitive challenges, he was dedicated to and knew Jesus Christ as his Savior. His family, church family at Calvary Baptist Church, and his friends and the staff of St. Coletta will miss him deeply.
Jimmy is survived by: his sister Shirley (Donald) Gifford of Lowell and Nephew Jeffery (Carol) Gifford of Midway, KY. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of St. Coletta, the people of Calvary Baptist Church, and to his guardian Pastor Rich Akins for the loving care provided and the dedication to Jimmy’s wellbeing.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at a later date with Rev. Randy Arbogast presiding. Please check the funeral home website found below for updated service information.
