James Lincer Obituary

Dr. James D. Lincer, 66 of Lake Mills, WI (formally Whitefish Bay), passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek after a long-fought battle with cancer.

Jim was born on February 28, 1957 to Dr. William and Dorothy (Bur) Lincer in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  He was raised in East Grand Rapids, MI and graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in 1975. He attended University of Notre Dame, where he studied pre-medicine and graduated in 1979. Following graduation, Jim taught and coached at Aurora Central Catholic High School, where he met the love of his life, Debra Hill.  The couple married on July 31, 1982, in Sandwich, IL and Jim went on to attend medical school at the University of Illinois, where he specialized in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Following medical school, Jim and Deb moved to Milwaukee where they planted their “roots” and raised their 3 daughters. Jim opened a private practice, Midwest Rehabilitation Associates, where his mission was to provide individualized care to improve the quality of life for his patients living with chronic pain and disability. His talents and dedication were recognized when he was selected as President of the American Board of Pain Medicine, a role he held from 2016-2018. Jim loved spending summers on Rock Lake fishing and boating. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and cooking. Jim was a man of ethics and led his life with his moral compass pointed “true North”.  Jim was a special man who left a lasting impact on all he met and his legacy will live on through his many artfully crafted recipes.

Jim is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Debra Lincer of Lake Mills; daughters Rachel Lincer of Grafton, Katherine (Matt) Bailey of Kansas City, MO, and Mary Lincer of Houston, TX; granddaughter Jenna; and siblings John Lincer, Barbara (George) Velcich, David Lincer, and Mary Lincer.  He is survived by many other loving family members, granddogs, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sophia.
