John F. Vogel, 70 of Jefferson, died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home.

John was born March 6, 1947 in Watertown, WI, the son of Ivo and Winifred (Graham) Vogel.  He was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson High School and served in the National Guard.  On April 16, 1966, he married Susan Langholff at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Jefferson.  John worked as a Maltster at Ladish Malt for 30 plus years.  John was an excellent provider, husband, and father.  He was hardworking and loved boating, hunting, fishing, and waterskiing.  He loved road trips and camping with his family while enjoying “old fashioneds”.  John was devoted to his family and never had a bad word to say about anyone.  He was an understanding man and will be remembered for his ever-present grin.

He is survived by: his Wife Susan Vogel; Children Brenda (Gary) Schmid of West Allis, Sandra (Rob Meeker) Dixon of Monona, and Angela (Chris) Thom of Gulf Shores, AL; 5 Grandchildren Erin (Derek), Jonathan, Ashley, Dante’, and Tanner; Great-Granddaughter Alanna; Siblings Joann (Dale) Lutz, Carol Vogel, Margaret (Harold) Dehnert all of Jefferson, and David (Becky) of Wheeling, IL.  He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Helen Porter and Brothers Paul and Donald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Jefferson with Fr. Tom Coyle presiding.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the Church.  John will be laid to rest at Rock River Cemetery of Jefferson following the service.
